Winter Driving Tips From Santa Ana Bail Bonds

Santa Ana Bail Bonds

Winter is upon us and it is bringing with it all the weather conditions that it has to offer. The sparse clouds of summer have transformed into storm clouds that bring treacherous conditions for anyone who wants to drive. To help keep you and your family safe over the holiday season we at Santa Ana Bail Bonds have come up with some driving tips to ensure you make it to all your destinations safely this winter.

Rain: When the rain starts to pour, the roads can become treacherous. The wet conditions make driving dangerous. At high speeds cars begin to hydroplane, a condition where the tires lose traction and begin to glide across the water on the road. If this occurs while you are driving don’t panic. Do not slam on the brakes. Let off the gas and slow down. Your tires should gain traction again. The best way to avoid hydroplaning is to drive slower than you normally would when it is raining.

Snow: Snow is a more dangerous driving condition than rain. Snow makes the road slippery and requires more caution when driving. For driving in snow, not only slow down your top speed, but everything you do. Speed up and brake at slower speeds to reduce chances of skidding.

Both: For both conditions, make sure to keep your headlights on. Your headlights will not only let you see better, but they will allow you to be seen by other drivers. The best advice to give for driving in bad weather is to not drive in bad weather. If you don’t have to go out, then don’t. If you must drive though, drive slowly and cautiously and give yourself plenty of time to get where to your destination. It’s better to be a little late than to get in a car crash.
